it's more than a week now, that we are back and our mail to you is overdue. First of all I'd like to thank you again for the really excellent organisation of our tour from Turpan to Urumqi, and, please give our best regards and our thanks to Miss Rizwangul (meanwhile Mrs. ...?) and Mr. Yan if you see or otherwise contact them. Whether or not a tour like ours becoms a success largely depends on the guide and the driver and the two made a perfect team and have been exactly what we had hoped for; our guide in Urumqi told us that originally he was intended to be our guide for the whole tour from Turpan to Urumqi and while he, no doubt, proofed to be a good guide, we (my wife and I) both feel it was a lucky happenstance, that we got Miss Rizwangul and Mr. Yan to accompany us from Turpan to Kashgar. It will take a while until we get our photos of this journy organized and printed, but at a first glance their appear to be some which might also interest Miss Rizwangul and Mr. Yan and we intend copies of some of them to (or rather for) Mr. Yan and Miss Rizwangul; again, this will take some time. As we don't have their respective adresses, we hope, that we can mail them to you. Now to remainder of our journey after we took of from Kashgar for Urumqi. As you know, China Southern had canceld the flight at 9 odd (for which we hda been scheduled originally) as well as the next one, so that we took of in Kashgar for Urumqi only at 11 something. We arrived in Urumqi savely but pretty late (at about halve past 1) and eventually whent to bed at about a quarter past 2. Needless to say, we were quite tired and the night was a short one. We therefor seariously considered slipping at least of the sightseeing items on our agenda for october 09, and the most likely candidate for cancelling was the museum; fortunately our guide talked us out of that. The museum proofed to be a real stunner in every aspect. Also our flight to Chengdu was fine; we had very good sight of the Tarim basin and the Tibetan highland. The remaining days of our journey in Chengdu and southern Sichuan (Leshan and Emeishan) were fine too (not too strenous a program) and so was our flight back to Shiphol. Only the last flight (from Shiphol to Hamburg) was about an hour delayed (for technical problems as we have been told) but eventually we came savely back home. Our journey was, while sometimes strenous, throughout interesting and a real pleasure. We will need a while to digest all the impressiones we got. Many thanks again and best regards
